FOR MARCH 2013
1 | WEEK 2 | WEEK 3
| WEEK 4
ending Sunday, March 31st, 2013
it's been a good -- well GREAT week socially as I've got to
spend more time with friends, hang out, socialize and get
my personal life back in order. This week I spent Easter with
the "Springer" family (pics posted on FaceBook)
which is always a lot of fun. They always make the best meals
and it's always fun to hang out with them. Also hung out with
my friend Jason this weekend as well, but that was for another
so sure about the new job that I accepted here. It seems they
are not using me for what I bring to the table as far as experience
goes. They have me doing basic SAN stuff, which I've done
for years and that's fine, but the job description was to
do SAN Architectural work -- I thought they wanted me to help
them fix their infrastructure. I am not sure if that is due
to me being new or that they don't have a focus on what they're
trying to accomplish.
that gets resolved tomorrow. I think one of three things are
going to happen.
They fire me.
b) I resign.
c) The get me on track with what I am supposed to be doing.
are the only three options I think that are available. There
really is no "in-between" option. I left VA where
I was doing SAN Architectural and Engineering work which later
was relegated to SAN Admin work when I got everything accomplished.
That is why I took this position so I could get back to what
I love doing -- fixing broken things. We'll see what happens
and I really don't know what it is, but I do know one thing:
My faith in God is strong and He never puts me in a position
where I will fail. And even so, if I do, it leads me to better
things. I know it's only been three weeks and I might be a
bit impatient but at some point they have to stop the bleeding
which is why they hired me.
didn't go to Church this weekend as Horizon wanted us to bring
a new person to Church and I didn't' have one so I watched
it online. It's nearly the same as being there so I am ok
with that. I still am glad to be back to my "home"
Church and always look forward to visiting every week.
finally got the replacement fairing for my CBR (also pics
on FB) so I got to do a shakedown run on Saturday. Maybe next
weekend I will make a run up to Palomar Mountain and see how
it goes the race tires that haven't been scrubbed in yet.
I will take the opportunity to do so as soon as I get up that
about it for this week. I'll post what happens at work when
I have more information. Consider "no news" as "good
news". Hope you had a fantastic weekend. Remember: "HE
HAS RISEN!" God bless you all.
ending Sunday, March 24th, 2013
another week down at the new job and "so far" everything
is going OK. I have learned a few things about where I am
at what they are trying to accomplish. I also know why they
like CLI (I'm more of a GUI type guy, because I visualize
everything in my head and CLI doesn't let you do that -- maybe
I am simply not that imaginative?!). Anyway, the second week
is down and I have a good idea of what we're trying to accomplish
here. So work is going OK and I am waiting for that first
paycheck to arrive. Possibly in the next two weeks then I'll
be OK. It cost me a TON of money to move myself back here
and I've been something I haven't been in a LONG time: BROKE!
I went to Sushi dinner with my "mentor" from EMC
and her and I think a lot alike. Probably because all that
I know I learned from her. She did say some nice things about
my old work at the company I worked for back here in 2007-2011
(documentation) and that it was spot on. That people using
it and complaining about it were not reading the documentation
through. Well, you gotta read every part of the document and
be sure you're doing the right thing so there you have it.
town home here is starting to shape up. I just need to start
unpacking more boxes. The furniture is all laid out and the
house is clean now. Once I have some income coming in again
I'll get the things that I need, get some groceries, catch
up on some bills (they are being paid, just the minimum amount
for now). I still don't have the replacement fairing for the
CBR yet that the movers damaged so as soon as I get that on
the bike I will start riding it to work.
was great again at Horizon and we had another speaker that
I liked a lot. I will probably not go to the Palm Sunday service
next week if I cannot find a guest. They're trying to get
people to Christ by bringing friends and well most of my friends
here are already going to their Church so they are ok. If
I can't find someone to go I will watch the service online.
That's OK with me as well. I can miss the traffic :)
that is about it for the week. Just been staying busy with
work and getting the house stuff done. The home I own in VA,
the people renting it are happy with the place (they should,
it's brand new!) so I don't have to worry about that for now.
As soon as things settle down I will get back to flight school
and finish everything up. I cannot wait to have my pilot's
license and just go fly, ride the bike and enjoy the lifestyle
here I have been missing since I left San Diego.
you all have a blessed week!

week at the new job in books...
another great sermon by Pastor Bob at Horizons, so glad to
The first week of work was pretty good. There is just a lot
of things I have to learn at the new company I am at and some
things that need to be updated and/or changed. When you jump
from one environment to another everything really needs to
be standardized and on the same page, so to speak. That's
really what I am working on the most right now is gathering
data and making sure that I put a couple of options (at least)
for the new company to mull over and decide which way they
want to go.
for the house I am in now -- well that is another story. The
house still isn't complete and once it is (this week or next)
then I'll be able to start making it livable. Right now I
am on a tight budget because I had to pay out a lot of money
out of my own pocket to get back here. So we'll see how that
goes since I don't think my first paycheck is still another
30 days away. Have enough my my account to pay the mortgage
and rent but that's about it. This is where you need to have
faith in God that He will provide and I am not going to worry
about it. He will show me the way I should go. Just like going
to VA and coming back to SOCAL.
do miss my house a lot, lol. It was MINE and new and well,
here I go complaining again but this place is more expensive
and about 35 years old! But I am learning to deal with it
because of the weather and my friends being here and especially
my Church, which is fantastic and I have missed it a lot.
As soon as I get the replacement fairing for the CBR I plan
on getting back to riding to work and getting around. Maybe
a Palomar Mountain run again when the weather is warm enough.
That is such a fun ride. And let's not forget that we can
play golf here year round.
wish I had a lot more to update on the site this week but
again I am still setting in. I'm sure things will get more
complicated before it starts to settle down. In the meantime
have a great weekend!
Week ending Sunday, March 10th,
update back in SOCAL...
well the last time I wrote the weekly blog I was still in
my place in Virginia and now as I sit and write this I am
in San Diego, in my new (but smaller) place and just getting
back into the normal groove. Well technically that starts
tomorrow when I arrive at the new job. Since the last time
I wrote I have driven to Florida from Virginia, got to spend
a day with my family before being told my stuff would arrive
sooner than expected. So I left Sunday morning, arrived in
Florida that night (at 10pm) then left for San Diego Tuesday
morning and arrived in San Diego Wednesday night. How's that
for trucking fast?! LOL!
I got here I met the person who I am leasing the town home
from and my friend Jason who has been a God-send since I've
been here. He's helped me out a lot with getting things organized.
He help me upload my stuff from the movers (who, by the way,
destroyed the fairing on my CBR! GRRR!) -- I mean he really
went out of the way to help me out a lot. I went with him
to the new office on Friday to get some paperwork completed,
we did lunch and then I slept in my house in Del Mar. On Saturday
I worked with the DirecTV and Time Warner guys to get my internet
and TV working (yay!) and also worked with the contractors
who are still, at the time of this writing, days if not weeks
behind the 8 ball with getting this place into shape. I told
them they will have to work Saturdays since I am not going
to be here during the week.
Saturday night I went back to my old Church (Horizon North
County) where I met with one of my friends I haven't seen
in a long time as well as the Pastor (Roger) who helped me
and my family out a lot when I was in the hospital in 2010.
I can't believe it's already been that long but I am grateful
for the people in my life who have gone far and above what
is necessary to help me along. I know that God has planned
this all out for me so it's in my best interest to trust in
the Lord and let Him work His miracles in my life -- and there
have been a lot of them. It was good just to be back to my
normal church, setting into the old routine that made me happy
(prayer) and being surrounded by friends.
I know leaving for VA was God's plan for me as well as coming
back here. It was well known that I wasn't adjusting well
to the cold and the lack of friends so I think God said "I
need you to be back with your brethren and back into My word)
which is what I am doing.
are still a lot of things that need to be done with this house
and it's going to take a long time before this place is livable.
I still do miss the friends I made in VA and I DEFINITELY
miss my own home but what can you do? My place is now rented
and that part is taken care of. Eventually I will try to buy
a place out here when/if I can find something that I like
and makes sense.
(Sunday) I played golf with my good friend Jack as well as
Jason and that was really fun to be with the old crew. Pretty
soon I am going to set up a get-together with other friends
I haven't seen in a long time, put my nose to the grindstone
at work, get things back in order here and then finish up
with my pilots license. Almost finished that before I left
and that's something off my bucket list that needs to be done.
I think that is about it for now. I have to get my laundry
done and get ready for my new job tomorrow. I am very thankful
for the great people I met and worked with in VA and I know
we'll do the same here in San Diego. I am definitely enjoying
the warm weather, cool breezes and the relaxing atmosphere
that comes with living in SOCAL.
you had a great and blessed week and talk to you later!
